Filming: Shots 1-3

The very start of our opening for our film involves various establishing shots before any actors enter. When two members of the group weren’t able to make the shoot, the remaining member still chose to film the parts that could be filmed. The shots that were filmed came out to be very successful as it was the ideal shots that we wanted.

However one issue we may face in the coming future could be continuity.

This is an issue as the next few shots involving the actors is shot in the same location, so if the weather and the time of day isn’t identical, it will be obvious as the beginning is only a matter of seconds.

This could mean that when we come to shooting the shots involving the actors, we reshoot the establishing shots, so the location, lighting, weather etc. is identical reducing any potential continuity problems.

Pre-production Planning - Test Footage

Test footage 

To make sure we are going to get the lighting we want to show up on the camera during filming, I went up to the location and took brief test footage. This means that we can be prepared for what to expect when we make the actual opening. From the test footage I took, we are going to get the lighting we are after. I made sure that the time I took the footage is the same time in the day as to what we will be filming in, giving us an accurate representation on what to expect.

Pre Production Planning : Storyboard

We got together after we decided upon the main storyline of the opening for our movie, and decided to create a storyboard. This would allow us to see exactly what shots we are going to be taking, and how long the opening is going to last. As an efficient way of getting the storyboard done, we decided to split it into three and each creates a part. I created the beginning, Georgia the middle, and Sophie created the end. Communication was key at this point as we needed to be sure the storyboards were going to flow nicely due to the fact were doing them all individually; but in the end it all came together nicely and the storyboard was completed fast.

Pre-production Planning - Communication

Communication

As we are working in a group, communication is a very important factor to contribute to having a successful outcome for our film. The main way in which we have decided to communicate in is by group chat on imessage. We believe that this would be the most successful method of communicating, as when a message is sent, it immediately comes up on the receivers phone just like a text message. This is very important as if there is some type of problem when it comes to filming, such as one actor being stuck in traffic, we can all be notified immediately, instead of not knowing what is going on. Also this means that unlike communicating on Facebook, we don’t have to worry bout logging in or out or getting Internet connection, we can simply group text.
