When we
started the production of the film and the editing, we decided that it would be
a very good idea to produce a rough cut. By doing so this would allow us to
check half way through the production to see if the film ‘works’. By this I mean
that we will be able to see if it looks good, or if anything will be needed to
be changed, because what we might envision as a complimentary shot in the
middle, could actually look out of place and even go as far as ruining the
film. So once we’ve made a rough cut, we can sit down and watch it to see if
the movie opening has the flow from shot to shot that we are going for.
To create
the rough cut, we didn’t start the editing from scratch, we just continued
editing, but instead of taking time to make very shot perfect and precise, we
slightly rushed it buy throwing in all the shots, purely because of the fact
that we will be able to get a rough idea of how our opening is going to look.
Once the rough
cut has been completed, we will present this to our target audience, who will
then give us any feedback they find necessary, which will then help us with the
creation of the rest of the final piece to make sure it’s a good as we can make
it, and it actually fits the target audience in the best way possible.
